Hi everyone — a couple more items for the list, after some troubleshooting:

    5. Apple TV+ playback in the Video Center. Trailers play fine (with sound), but films and series don't start at all — pressing Play does nothing. Disney+ works perfectly in the same Video Center, so the problem seems specific to Apple TV+. The likely cause is audio format support: Apple TV+ content is delivered with Dolby Atmos / 5.1, and while Disney+ apparently falls back to stereo, Apple TV+ doesn't, so the player fails silently. Since the #5 already supports Dolby Atmos for Amazon Music, it would be great to see multichannel/Atmos audio support in the Video Center — or at least a stereo fallback so Apple TV+ content plays.

    6. Red Bull TV in the Video Center. Free, no subscription needed, and great content for passengers on longer trips — it would be an easy and welcome addition next to Joyn and Plex.

And a gentle reminder of point 1: Netflix is still missing. With Apple TV+ not working either, the passenger display currently has no working option for two of the biggest streaming services — which is a pity given how good that 2K OLED screen is.

Has anyone found a workaround in the meantime?

Real charging power on Tesla Supercharger 250 kW — real experiences?

    Hi everyone,

I have a Smart #5 Premium (800V, 100 kWh) and I'm planning road trips where I'll use Tesla Superchargers at 250 kW.

I'd like to know from people with practical experience:

    1. What real power (in kW) do you measure in the first 20 minutes of charging? (fresh battery state, ~10-15% SOC)

    2. How does it behave between 20-80% SOC? — does it stay close to 200+ kW or does it drop earlier?

    3. Battery temperature — do you see significant throttling if you charge multiple times on the same day?

I'm asking because the NMC charging curve can be quite aggressive up to 80%, then it cuts off. I wanted to understand if the Smart can exploit the Supercharger's capacity well or if there are limitations I wasn't expecting.

Thanks to anyone with real data! 🚗⚡

Great news! I received update 2.3.0, which is now available in Portugal. Everything works perfectly—I downloaded and installed it without any issues. The car is running very well with the new improvements. Thanks for the detailed information!

    Hello everyone,

Has anyone managed to set up Netflix/series for passengers while riding in the Smart #5?

I'm considering implementing a solution for entertaining passengers on longer journeys. I've read that the Ottocast AI Box i3 is an option, but the price is quite high.

I would like to know if anyone here has already found a working and practical solution to this problem and what experiences they have had in the following areas:

    1. Total cost of the solution

    2. User-friendliness and easy installation

    3. Image quality / Functionality

    4. Compatibility with the Smart #5

Thank you so much for the tips and experiences! I'd like to know if anyone else has found a working and practical solution to this problem and has experience in the following areas:

Translated with DeepL.com (free version )

With versions 2.3.0 and 2.3.1 complete, it's time to start thinking about 2.4.0. Before Smart/Mercedes releases the next version, we're compiling a list of what we think is still missing, what's annoying, and what we'd like to see in the upcoming version.

Intended as a collection point for:

    - Bugs from versions 2.3.0/2.3.1 that are still open;

    - New feature requests for version 2.4.0.

    To keep the thread organized:

    1) One topic per post

    2) Briefly indicate: [Bug] or [Request]

    3) If possible, specify the area, eg, infotainment/OpenR Link, smart app, Bluetooth/CarPlay/Android Auto, driver assistance systems, charging/range, climate control, sound.

    4) Please bump the points already mentioned with a like instead of a duplicate post.

    5) Please link to existing individual threads to avoid duplicate discussions.

    Example format for responses:
[Bug] Bluetooth disconnects when parking (Area: Connectivity)

The Ubuntu philosophy: "I am because we are" – that's why we have this one thread instead of 50 separate topics. Together, we can give more weight to suggestions for improvement.

Now it's your turn – what absolutely needs to be included in version 2.4.0? 8)

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask around: do you use protective covers/cases for the car key and/or the NFC card of the #5? If so, which ones would you recommend?

    Specifically looking for:

    - a protective cover/case for the key

    - a case/sleeve for the NFC card

Any good experiences with particular manufacturers or shops? Would really appreciate tips and links!

    Thanks and regards

    Hallo zusammen,

Hi smartwell — fair point, and worth taking seriously.

Browser engines are one of the most common attack surfaces out there, and there's real precedent in cars: the 2015 Jeep Cherokee/Uconnect remote hack, and browser exploits landed against the Model 3 infotainment at Pwn2Own. That's presumably why smart ships the Video Center as a closed system with a fixed bookmark list rather than a general browser — a deliberate security posture, not an oversight.

But that argues against "let me type any URL", not against the underlying request. Worth noting too that Jeep is the case that pushed the industry toward stricter domain separation: modern architectures keep infotainment behind a gateway, away from the steering and braking ECUs. Not a guarantee, but it means the realistic exposure from a compromised head unit is account data, comfort functions or a bricked unit. Serious — a different threat model from "someone takes over your car".

So smart could add Netflix the same way they added Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, Joyn and Plex: one more vetted entry in the curated list, not open browsing. The ask should probably be "expand the curated list" rather than "open the browser" — same outcome for users, none of the surface you're describing.

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to turn off this small light near the rear roof console (see photos)? It has a lit ring around it (pink/white) and stays on even in camping mode.

I'd like to switch it off completely while sleeping in the car - is there a setting for this, or is it always on whenever Camping Mode is active?

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: Found a related thread where another member (#161) mentioned the same issue with the ambient lighting staying on in Camping Mode, but no solution was posted there either: Camping Modus
